IBS Treatment – Reducing IBS Symptoms with Soluble Fiber
You can actually reduce the symptoms of IBS when you use the natural approach for your IBS treatment. One good example is to include a lot of vegetables and fiber-based foods in your every meal. Fiber is very important to be taken in each meal because it helps in softening the stool thus relieving you from constipation. Even if you are having diarrhoea most of the times, eating a lot of fiber can help in reducing the urgency to use the toilet.
While it is great to stuff your guts with a lot of fiber, it is best to take it according to the FDA recommendation, i.e. twenty-five to thirty-five grams on a daily basis. Remember to consume soluble and not insoluble fiber. The problem is most foods contain insoluble and not soluble fiber. For example green, leafy vegetables and bran are not rich in soluble fiber like you might think. Instead, soluble fiber is found in rice, soy, barley and even mushrooms. Don’t forget to include the fiber found in these foods because they are the best fiber for IBS treatment.
Unlike insoluble fiber, an IBS treatment using soluble fiber helps in regulating normal bowel movements. It works by dissolving in water and thus absorbs any excessive water present in the colon. This reduces the occurrences of diarrhoea yet it amazingly reduces constipation as well since it is able to soften the stool.

Tea and Schizophrenia
Increase antipsychotic treatment with biologically active natural product, L-theanine, relieves symptoms in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, a team of Israel published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.
The team of Dr. Vladimir Lerner, Mental Health Center Be’er-Sheva, explains that neuroprotection became the center of the investigation of psychiatric disorders associated with progressive loss of brain tissue.
The L-theanine, experts say, is an amino acid present almost exclusively in the tea plant, Camellia sinensis, to 1 or 2 percent. You can cross the blood brain barrier and is neuroprotective, while improving mood and relaxing. The team tested benefits with a dose of 400 mg L-theanine daily for eight weeks, versus placebo, added to the therapy given antipsychotic treatment 60 patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Forty patients completed the study.
According to Positive Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS, for its acronym in English), the positive subscale and general psychopathology score decreased significantly with L-theanine therapy than with placebo. The effect was modest for the positive subscale, but “significantly higher” for the general psychopathology. Furthermore, compared with placebo, L-theanine significantly reduced anxiety as Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HARS, for its acronym in English).
“The positive results encourage the hope that the L-theanine is neuroprotective in people with schizophrenia,” the researchers wrote, adding: “Further studies are needed to verify the clinical benefits of the use of L-theanine.”
More time on the internet, more depression.
Spend time surfing the internet is normal among teenagers, but a new study suggests that doing many or few hours would be associated with depression. The findings, published in the journal Pediatrics, internet do not hold, since study participants who did not use the Internet also had risk of developing depressive symptoms.
The authors argue that both overuse, as the non-use of the website would serve as a warning sign that a teen is having difficulty. The team of Pierre-Andre Michaud, University of Lausanne, Switzerland, interviewed 7,200 people between 16 and 20 years on the use of internet.
Those who spent more than two hours per day “online” users were considered “excessive” and those who were connected a few times a week and two hours per day users were considered “regular.” Teenagers also answered several questions related to health and the “downward trend” to measure how often a person feels sad or hopeless. Users “excessive” or “non-users” of the internet were more likely to be depressed or very depressed that users ‘regular’.
Among men, users “excessive” and “non-users” were a third more likely that users ‘regular’ to get a record high on the scale to measure depression, while among women, the users ‘excessive’ 86 percent were more likely to develop depression than users ‘regular’.
In the group of “non-users” that can reach 46 percent.
Still, the average records of depression in the “non-users,” users “excessive” and the “regulars” were placed at the bottom on a scale of 1 to 4 (between 1 and 2, 1 means “no depression” ). The team did not answer how many participants in each group had depression. Another study from Switzerland published in 2010 had estimated a rate of pediatric depression of 1.4 percent.
Is unknown, the team, why not overuse and Internet use were associated with an increased risk of developing depression. One hypothesis is that, as teenagers connect with friends, those who never use the Internet would be more socially isolated.
As for the excessive use of the network, previous studies have found an association with depressive symptoms, but for reasons still unknown. A study of adolescents in Taiwan had shown that depressive symptoms precede excessive Internet use.
In this study raised other concerns associated with the health of users “excessive” Internet: 18 percent of men were overweight, compared with 12 percent of user group “regular” and 59 percent of women slept little, unlike 35 percent of user group “regular.”
As with depression, it is unclear what causes these results.
As for the loss of sleep, the team claimed that some teenagers replaced by long time off online. And on the overweight men, it is unknown whether sedentary time in front of the screen enhances the increase in weight or overweight teens tend to spend more time on the computer.
The important thing, according to the researchers, is that excessive hours both online and non-use (or few hours) internet may indicate a teen is in trouble. On the other hand, use “regular” internet (up to 2 hours per day in the studio) would be a teenage behavior “normal”.
Even so, the team explained that the study was conducted in 2002, before the emergence of popular social networks Facebook and Twitter. Now, many teens spend more time online and the definition of an exhibition “regular” may vary.
The brain is shrinking
The human brain has been reduced in the past 30,000 years to the extent that during that time, has lost the size of a tennis ball. This trend baffles scientists. Are we becoming more stupid or, conversely, our brain is transformed to be more agile and efficient? The way in which we live, how we face the world and the demands of everyday life far from those that had, for example, a Neanderthal.
After taking measurements of skulls found in Europe, Middle East and Asia, scientists have concluded that the average size of the brain of modern humans, Homo sapiens has been reduced by 10%, and has grown from 1500-1359 cc. Women, whose brain is smaller than the male, have experienced an evolution equivalent.
Some anthropologists believe that this reduction is not as surprising as the bigger and stronger we are, more gray matter we need to control all that mass. Neanderthal man, a relative of modern man who disappeared about 30,000 years ago for unknown reasons, it was bigger and had larger brains. Cro-Magnon cave paintings left by animals in the monumental Lascaux cave 17,000 years ago, Homo sapiens was the biggest brain. They were also stronger than their modern descendants. Psychology professor David Geary, University of Missouri, believes that these features were necessary to survive in a hostile environment.
Geary complex social environment has studied the evolution of skull sizes from 1.9 million to 10,000 years old, while our ancestors lived in a social environment increasingly complex. Geary and colleagues used population density as a measure of social complexity, with the assumption that the closer humans live, the greater is the exchange between the group, the division of labor and rich and varied interactions between the people.
The scientists found that brain size decreased with increased population density. “As complex societies emerged, the brain became smaller because people do not have to be so smart to stay alive,” says Geary.
But the reduction does not mean that modern humans are dumber than their ancestors. Instead, simply evolved differently, even more sophisticated intelligence, says Brian Hare, an assistant professor of anthropology at Duke University.
The same phenomenon is observed in domestic animals compared to wild specimens. Thus, the Huskies pued
to have smaller brains than wolves, but they are more intelligent and sophisticated as they can understand the human communicative gestures, behaving like a small child. “Despite that a wolf has a much larger brains than dogs Dogs are much more intelligent and flexible, so that intelligence is not directly related to brain size, “Hare explained.
When bad breath while sleeping
People spend a quarter of his life in bed and well-being during the hours of sleep is essential. In addition to holding much of the day to day, a break failure may cause significant alterations in health. One of the most common is snoring. This and other sleep disorders increase considerably in developed countries, with the help of an aging population and increasing prevalence of obesity, among other factors.
Sleeping alone would provide the agency additional 49 minutes of good sleep every night because it is estimated that couples sharing a bed are 50% more likely to suffer from various disadvantages in their sleep. These problems are caused mainly by the fact that the couple suffers from snoring or insomnia. Sleep specialists at the University of Surrey (UK) reveal the reason why many people keep watch at night with a feeling of exhaustion.
Excessive movements, noises from the bed, the struggle or excessive heat pads are reasons that affect the quality of sleep when sharing the bed. But the main cause of snoring, an aspect that years ago was considered safe for those who suffered, not for those who suffered, but now has taken a special importance because it affects the health of both partners.
The number of people affected increases as well, along with other sleep disorders, including circadian rhythm disorders, narcolepsy, sleepwalking and insomnia. This is due to increase in the elderly population, cases of obesity and alcohol consumption, major risk factors for developing these conditions.
The annoying snoring
Snoring is generated in the nose and throat by the vibration that originates in the soft palate to breathe in and out. During sleep, the muscles that are responsible for keeping the airway open relax, so narrow and vibrate more to cause noise nuisance, which can reach varying degrees of volume. Is involuntary and, according to experts, can not be cured, although controlled. Alcohol or drugs for sleep help relax the muscles and thus enhance the situation.
Overweight and obesity also put more pressure on the pathways and favor the increase of the vibratory movements. Processes flu, colds, allergies, nasal polyps or lesions can be just as involved in snoring and smoking, which causes inflammation or blockage of the airways.
The condition causes a reduction in oxygen levels and a small raise to restore normal rhythm, often unconscious, until it happens the next episode. This lack of sleep can cause excessive sleepiness continued during the day, respiratory and cardiovascular disorders (reduced blood oxygen level and tachycardia). The poor quality of sleep also can lead to emotional and behavioral disturbances and cognitive performance.
Get enough sleep on a regular basis and try sleeping on your side, in addition to behavior change, are some of the tips light situations. Although these measures help to slow its progression, many people need treatment with continuous positive airway pressure device (CPAP) to keep the airway open so that breathing stops during sleep and allow the rest to those affected. However, some people can not tolerate too well and stop treatment in less than a year. Specialists, however, ensure that appropriate monitoring and specialized support often help overcome any problems with their use.

If you’re very tuned in to nutrition and regularly eat a broad range of foods, including meat, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, your diet will provide almost all the nutrients you and your baby need. Realistically, though, most women especially those in the throes of morning sickness can benefit from taking a prenatal vitamin and mineral supplement, preferably before they start trying to conceive. Think of it as an insurance policy to make sure you are getting the right amount of certain important nutrients during pregnancy.
A prenatal vitamins can also help you get enough iron. Most women do not get enough of this mineral in their diet to meet their body’s increased needs during pregnancy. That is because your body makes a lot more blood when you are pregnant to support your growing baby, and as a result, the iron stores in your blood can be spread pretty thin. To avoid developing iron-deficiency anemia during pregnancy, most women need to take a supplement.
Syndrome is caused by nicotine
The withdrawal syndrome is caused by nicotine, an alkaloid found in the Solanaceae family of plants (Solanaceae), which is approximately 0.6 to 3.0% dry weight of snuff. It works like a chemical, so that nicotine was widely used as an insecticide in the past. At low concentrations (cigarette yields an average of 1 mg of nicotine absorbed), the substance acts as a stimulant and is the main factor responsible for causing dependence snuff consumption. According to the American Heart Association, nicotine addiction has historically been one of the most difficult to break. Pharmacological and behavioral characteristics that determine addiction to snuff are similar to those that determine addiction to drugs such as heroin and cocaine. The nicotine content of cigarettes has risen slowly in recent years, and one study found that there was an average increase of 1.6% annually between 1998 and 2005.
Withdrawal of nicotine withdrawal
Is a term used to describe the effects felt by a person who is dependent on nicotine and suddenly stops or significantly reduce your nicotine intake. Because cigarette smoking is the most popular form of nicotine, the effects of nicotine withdrawal have been observed more frequently in people who are in the process of quitting. People who smoked more cigarettes or a longer time period are more likely to experience these symptoms, although most people who try to “quit” suffer any symptoms of drug withdrawal.
When smokers stop smoking regularly, often have strong cravings when placed in situations associated in their minds with smoking (eg, leaving home in the morning, a coffee break, etc.) The Common symptoms of nicotine withdrawal include loss of concentration, irritability, tension, sleep disturbance or drowsiness, increased blood pressure, intense desire to smoke a cigarette / nicotine, headaches, and increased appetite leads to weight gain. Sometimes people may experience nicotine withdrawal when cutting down to light cigarettes or reduce the number of smokers.
Withdrawal of nicotine: Alternatives
The herbal cigarettes (also called snuff or cigarettes without nicotine-free cigarettes) are the cigarettes that do not contain snuff or nicotine. There are several popular brands of such cigarettes, which usually contain a mixture of different herbs and / or other plant material. Like snuff smokeless herbal, often used as a substitute for standard snuff products (mainly cigarettes), and often as an aid to quit smoking. Also used in the action scenes by performers who are not smokers.
Herbal cigarettes contain, instead of snuff as a filler, a wide range of products such as corn silk, herbs such as mint, cinnamon or lemon. Thus never reaches the withdrawal of nicotine.
